Privacy Policy
The GRAYT Mechanic (“we”, “ManOfWeb LLC”) operates the iPhone and Android apps, the web dashboard at app.thegraytmechanic.com, the website at thegraytmechanic.com, and the API at api.thegraytmechanic.com.
Information we collect
- Account: email address, optional name, password (hashed) or Google account identifier if you use Google Sign-In.
- Vehicle data: VIN, year, make, model, and scan history you save in Garage.
- Diagnostic data: trouble codes, live OBD readings (RPM, coolant, voltage, etc.) when you scan or use cloud relay.
- AI chat: messages you send to AI Mechanic, linked to your account and optional vehicle context.
How we use it
- Provide sign-in, sync scans between phone and dashboard, and vehicle-specific AI answers.
- Operate cloud relay (Kit B) so a second device can view live data from your phone.
- Improve reliability and support — we do not sell your personal information.
Storage & security Data is stored on our secured servers (United States). Passwords are hashed. Use a strong unique password.
Third parties
- Google — Sign-In (if you choose it), subject to Google’s privacy policy.
- AI providers — chat messages may be processed by third-party AI APIs to generate responses.
- Amazon — affiliate links only; Amazon’s site has its own privacy terms when you click through.
Your choices You may request account deletion by emailing us from the address on your account (see Support). Uninstalling the app does not delete cloud data until you ask us to remove it.
Children The app is not directed at children under 13.
Terms & Diagnostic Disclaimer
- The GRAYT Mechanic is an informational diagnostic aid for DIY owners and shops — not a substitute for a certified technician, official OEM procedures, or professional judgment.
- Always verify torque specs, safety steps, and repair procedures in the official factory manual for your vehicle.
- Clearing codes or performing repairs based on app output is at your own risk. We are not liable for vehicle damage, injury, or incorrect repairs.
- OBDLink, GM, Ford, and other brands are trademarks of their owners. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by them except where we link to their public sites.
Service Manuals & AI Mechanic
- We do not sell factory service manuals inside the app.
- The Manuals section shows links to free and paid third-party sources (Operation CHARM, NHTSA, OEM portals, ALLDATA DIY, etc.). You purchase any paid access directly from those providers.
- Free CHARM coverage is roughly 1982–2013; newer vehicles are directed to OEM or paid DIY sources.
- AI answers may combine your scan data, general repair knowledge, and optional indexed excerpts from public manual sources. AI can be wrong — always confirm critical steps.
